Your Pain Matters, Too

Sexual addiction, pornography, secrecy, and betrayal affect more than the person engaging in destructive behavior. Spouses and family members may face broken trust, grief, anger, uncertainty, and questions about what comes next.

You deserve to be heard and supported. Your needs should not disappear behind someone else’s recovery.

You are not responsible for another person’s destructive choices, and you cannot do the work of recovery for them.

Support for You

Seeking support for yourself does not mean accepting blame for what happened. It means making room for your own needs, questions, and decisions.

Faithful & True

S-Anon Family Groups

S-Anon is a Twelve Step fellowship for people affected by someone else’s sexual addiction. It offers peer support for spouses, relatives, and friends, with an emphasis on their own well-being rather than controlling another person’s behavior.

S-Anon is a peer fellowship, not professional counseling, and is not specifically a Christian ministry.

Professional Counseling

You may want an independent place to discuss what has happened and consider your needs. Look for a licensed counselor experienced in sexual betrayal and its effects on partners and families.

Faith, Boundaries, and Trust

Christian hope does not require pretending that harm did not happen. Grace does not erase consequences, and forgiveness should not be used to demand immediate trust or silence difficult questions.

Trust takes more than promises. Honesty, consistent conduct, accountability, and respect for boundaries matter.

You can seek wise counsel and consider appropriate boundaries without taking responsibility for someone else’s choices. You do not have to make every decision about the future today.

When Children Are Affected

Children’s needs deserve separate attention. They should not be asked to keep adult secrets, carry messages between parents, or monitor someone’s recovery.

A qualified professional who works with children and families can help you consider what to explain in an age-appropriate way and how to provide support.

A Place to Begin

You do not need to wait for your loved one to seek help before finding support for yourself.

A first step may be contacting a counselor, exploring a support group, or speaking with a trusted person who will listen without pressuring you toward a particular decision.

Your life, dignity, and well-being matter. There is room for your grief, your questions, and your hope.
